babBEE baby shower

My friend Mallory's sister, Terra, is throwing a super-cutely themed baby shower all centered around bees.

She asked me to make the invitations...

Please ignore the blurs and blobs as I didn't want to post any of their personal information.

I just love these little bees...the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details add the perfect amount of sparkle to the heart!

I hand curled all of the antennae for 30 bees...

And I hand sewed all of the loops using embroidery floss.

The problem with me is that I tend to take a theme and run with it! This whole weekend has centered around bees!

I decided to also make her some prototypes for other shower ideas.

I love Puppy Chow, no not the "real" Puppy Chow", the Chex kind (also called "Muddy Buddies"). Here is a twist...substitute peanut butter chips for the chocolate chips and pour over Honeycomb cereal and you have a bee-themed snack!

Have you ever seen the tissue paper pom poms? They are super easy to make, though I've always wondered why tissue is so expensive?! I made this one to look like a sunflower, rather than a ball.

How cute would a bunch of these be hanging about the cake table?

Up! has a great Bigz XL die in the mini devoted to making lollies...

And how precious are these little lollies?! They would be great to use to make a centerpiece for the cake/food table...

They are so easy to make and so cute too!

I made an envelope for a Burt's Bees lip balm to use as a prize for the shower games. Another Bigz die...the Petite Pocket.

And what about the parting gift? Glass test tubes decorated to go along with the theme...the back of the tag has a thank you from the shower hosts.

I thought this would be cute filled with wildflower seeds..."what will it be?"

So what do you think?! Are you hosting a baby shower (or any event) anytime soon? I can do any theme and work with any idea you have. I can be local for both Chicago and Cincinnati...and I can even ship items long distance if needed, which I've done in the past.

"scraplifted" elegant bird

Anyone who knows me knows of my obsession of birds...and now that Stampin' Up! has a new "Elegant Bird" Bigz Die in the Occasions Mini, the bird obsession could get a little obnoxious! It's AWESOME! I also loved the card idea in the mini for the bird die, so I "scraplifted" it and put my own spin on it. It's probably my favorite card of all time (not just for obvious reasons).

By the way, take notice that my pictures have improved please! I have a digital SLR camera, but dealing with lenses and such can be a pain to drag out sometimes. My little point-and-shoot camera crapped out on me so I had been using my Blackberry (though I do have an iPhone now, which takes better pictures) to take my recent blog photos. I used some of my Christmas money from my in-laws to purchase a new one. I now keep it in my craft room so I have no excuses not to take better pictures! A little ironic since I always have a camera with me anywhere I go (I took over 3000 pictures in Budapest!). My sister-in-law, Tara, made me promise to never post another bad picture! Is this better, Tara?

more notepad holders...

I made a notepad holder for my husband's cousin, and ended up making a few more...of course I had to use "Everyday Enchantment"!

Ooh, and LOVE the new "Paper Doily" Sizzlits Die! So pretty!

The retired DSP, "Love Letter" was recently on the clearance rack. It's one of my favorites since it contains houndstooth paper (my husband went to the University of Alabama so everything ends up being houndstooth)...I apologize if you didn't get a chance to order it as I'm probably the reason they ran out! I made these notepad holders for my mother-in-law...

Would you like to place an order for one of these beauties?! Better yet, want to learn how to make your own?! Let me know!

everyday enchantment love affair

We are right in the middle of our move from Cincinnati to Chicago. Luckily our house sold within 2 weeks, so now we are waiting to close. I've been spending most of my time purging the house of "stuff" and getting ready for the movers....so I haven't gotten much time to play, or blog for that matter. During this time of craziness, Stampin' Up! released the new Occasions Mini and it's awesome! The best part about this time of year is Sale-A-Bration, which begins January 24th. The most beautiful paper ever, "Everyday Enchantment", is part of this awesome promotion...and it can be yours for FREE with a $50 order! As a matter of fact, you can get ANYTHING free out of the Sale-A-Bration catalog...every $50 you spend, you get an item free, with no limit! You can't beat that! Recently I made a birthday card and notepad holder for my friend, Ann Marie. Both are made using "Everyday Enchantment" (love!). The card also uses the new Framelits dies in the Occasions mini, and the notepad holder is made using Stampin' Up!'s clear mount stamp cases. What do you think?
